Strahinja Pavlovic in the Milan Rossoneri shirt celebrates after scoring a goal

Chelsea have come knocking on Milan's door for Strahinja Pavlovic. According to Calciomercato.com and confirmed by numerous English and Italian sources, the Blues are ready to table an offer of €40 million for the Serbian centre-back, who has become one of the pillars of the best defence in Europe under Massimiliano Allegri. Milan's answer is emphatic: Pavlovic is not for sale. The Rossoneri board have already opened talks over a renewal until 2031 and value the player at no less than €50 million.

Chelsea's assault: €40 million on the table

Liam Rosenior's Chelsea are planning a deep overhaul of their defensive department ahead of next season. The Blues have identified Pavlovic as the ideal profile to strengthen their back line and according to the Corriere dello Sport have already initiated exploratory contacts with the player's entourage.

The offer the London club are reportedly willing to present is in the region of €40 million, a figure that would represent a significant profit on the €18 million plus add-ons Milan spent in the summer of 2024 to prise him away from Red Bull Salzburg. However, Chelsea's proposal is considered insufficient by the Rossoneri hierarchy.

According to SportMediaset and TeamTalk, Milan would not even entertain offers below €50 million and are aiming for at least €60 million before sitting down to negotiate. A valuation that reflects the player's exponential growth under Allegri's management.

From Belgrade to San Siro: Pavlovic's rise

Strahinja Pavlovic, born in Belgrade on 24 May 2001, has built his career step by step. A product of Partizan's youth academy, he moved to Monaco where he gained experience through loans at Cercle Brugge and Basel. In 2022 he transferred to Red Bull Salzburg for €7 million, where over two seasons he won an Austrian league title and attracted the attention of Europe's top clubs.

In the summer of 2024 Milan beat the competition and brought him to San Siro for €18 million plus add-ons. An investment that in less than two years has proved extraordinary: today the Serbian's market value is estimated at around €50 million, nearly triple what was paid. A rise that few had predicted, fuelled by Allegri's work and the solidity of the Rossoneri defence.

Profile

Strahinja Pavlovic — centre-back, born 2001, Serbian. 1.94 m tall, 52 caps for Serbia. At Milan since the 2024/25 season. This campaign: 25 appearances and 4 goals in Serie A, a regular starter in Allegri's 3-5-2.

The numbers this season: the wall of the best defence in Europe

If one statistic explains Pavlovic's importance to Milan better than any words, it is the defensive record: just 23 goals conceded in 30 matchdays of Serie A, the best defence in Italian football and one of the most solid in Europe. The Serbian has been a key protagonist in this record-breaking run, making 25 appearances of which 24 were starts.

But Pavlovic is not merely a defensive wall. His 4 goals in the league make him one of the most prolific centre-backs in Serie A, second only to a handful of peers. The most spectacular came in the comeback against Torino: a right-footed strike from 25 metres that broke the deadlock and sparked the 3-2 victory that took Milan back to second place in the table.

Milan stand firm: renewal until 2031

Milan's response to the English sirens has been clear and immediate. Sporting director Igli Tare and the ownership have been in talks for weeks to tie Pavlovic down with a new contract until 30 June 2031, extending his current deal — which expires in 2028 — by three years.

The offer includes a significant pay rise: from the current €1.7 million net per season to approximately €2.5 million, in recognition of the player's exponential development. Although the club already hold an option to extend the contract until 2029, the strategy is to act early in order to reward the Serbian's performances and deter potential suitors.

Milan's strategy

Pavlovic's renewal is part of a clear policy: protecting the players who are thriving within Allegri's project. As emerged from the recent summit at Casa Milan, the board want to strengthen the defence with new signings, not weaken it by selling its pillars.

Not just Chelsea: Crystal Palace and Galatasaray watching

Chelsea are not the only club to have set their sights on Pavlovic. According to MilanNews.it, Crystal Palace have expressed concrete interest and are reportedly prepared to submit an offer of around €30 million, a figure deemed even further from Milan's valuation than Chelsea's bid.

From Turkey come reports via TuttoMercatoWeb of interest from Galatasaray, who are exploring several Milan profiles including former Rossonero Álvaro Morata. The Turkish option appears less concrete than the English ones, however.

In none of these scenarios have Milan shown any willingness to negotiate. The board's stance is unequivocal: Pavlovic is a cornerstone of the project and will not be sold for anything less than €50 million — a figure that no club currently appears willing to reach.

The future: a pillar of the Allegri project

Pavlovic's story at Milan is one of the most uplifting of the Rossoneri season. Signed for €18 million as something of a gamble, he has transformed into one of the most sought-after centre-backs in Europe. The credit goes to a player who has placed himself at the service of Allegri's tactical vision, adapting perfectly to the back three that has made Milan the most solid side on the continent.

At 24 Pavlovic still has enormous room to grow and Milan know it. The renewal until 2031 is not merely a defensive move against bids from English clubs, but an investment in the future. The bond between the Serbian defender and the Rossoneri colours looks set to endure for a long time to come.

The message from Milan is loud and clear: Pavlovic is not for sale. Chelsea, Crystal Palace and anyone else who comes knocking at Casa Milan will receive the same answer. The Serbian defender's future is Rossonero, secured by an imminent renewal and Allegri's unwavering trust. In the Milan of the Devil there is a place for those who can build and those who can defend: Pavlovic does both.

Forza Milan, sempre.
